The second annual Deck Specialist Symposium begins today! The free two-day, all-virtual event, which will take place July 13 from 4 to 7 pm (7-10 pm ET), and July 14 from 2 to 5 pm PT (5 to 8 pm ET), is designed to bring the decking industry together with educational Zoom sessions and a digital tradeshow floor featuring the hottest products. The event will feature presentations from renowned builders and contractors including Bobby Parks, The BroLaws, and Brendan Casey.

The event will start in the late afternoon to minimize builders’ time away from their job sites. Educational sessions start with an opening keynote from Bobby Parks, a legendary deck builder and Deck Specialist columnist with a wealth of knowledge. Attendees will then watch Marv Johnson, a well-known builder and Deck Specialist columnist show off the tools that he uses on the job site every day, including his favorite hammer, utility knife, speed square, air nozzle/blower, and nail puller.

BroLaws’ Dave Kenney and Joey Fletcher continue the event with their discussion on rethinking the contractor, including problem-solving to address client’s concerns, using social media to relate back to existing and potential clients, expressing gratitude and showing care to homeowners, rethinking the contractor-to-contractor relationship to grow a tighter-knit, more-collaborative building community, reframing how the contractor works with their employees and a look at financials and profitability.

Day two, July 14, will be packed with as much energy as Twin Brothers Construction owners Ben and Andrew Schoonover, and their Dad, Greg Schoonover, take center stage to talk about what they have learned as a family of builders and what makes them unique in the industry. Next up is Wood Bully’s Gordon South, who will discuss how contractors who use social media are the future of the home and garden industry.

The event will close with a panel discussion led by well-known builder and Deck Specialist columnist Brendan Casey, owner of Casey Fence and Deck. Join Brendan and several winners of the second annual Deck Specialist of the Year Awards as they gather for a panel discussion on how they were able to take their work and businesses to the next level by leveraging elite product brands.

This year is setting up to be even more exciting than last year and is designed to take builders on a virtual journey with the decking industry, submerging them in all things decking with some of their favorite people. Free registration is open at symposium.526event.com.
