Glass Flooring Systems has introduced Custom Glass Railing Systems, a fully engineered railing line featuring flat, curved and bent glass for decks, balconies, terraces, rooftops, pool surrounds and other residential and architectural applications.
Designed for architects, custom home builders, designers and glazing professionals, each glass railing system is engineered and fabricated to the specific shape and layout of the project. Applications can range from curved staircases and sloped decks to full wraparound balconies and transitions between straight and curved railing runs.
The systems are delivered as a coordinated package that includes glass, hardware, permit-ready shop drawings and glass-specific engineering.
“We’re not doing this the way it’s normally done. There are glass shops that will sell you a railing, and there are companies that mass-produce railings at standard sizes. What hasn’t existed is a company focused on the high-end market with the full package: the clearest glass, the finest hardware, templating, shop drawings, and engineering, all from one source. Our clients often come to us with designs that fall outside standard railing configurations. Custom sizes, shapes, curves, and slopes are all part of what we can accommodate,” said Wayne Conklin, president of Glass Flooring Systems.
Custom Glass for Deck and Railing Applications
Custom flat, curved and bent glass panels can be engineered to the exact radius, slope and layout of a project, including shaped edges for sloped decks and stair runs.
The railing systems use EUROWHITE NG ultra-low-iron glass, which provides 91% visible light transmittance and minimizes the green tint associated with standard glass. The glass is available for luxury railing systems exclusively through Glass Flooring Systems.
For interior and exterior applications, SentryGlas and Trosifol UltraClear High Adhesion interlayers provide clarity, post-breakage retention and edge stability for applications including terraces, pool surrounds, rooftops and coastal residences.
Frameless Glass Railing Hardware
The systems feature precision-engineered AISI 316 stainless steel Italian hardware available in stainless, chrome and black finishes.
The patented Giotto Stand-Off System allows installers to align the glass on three axes after it has been mounted. The Infinity Spigot System secures frameless glass railing panels without a base shoe or bulky framing.
Flat railing panels also receive an additional finishing step after lamination. Exposed edges are polished to create a smooth, refined profile. The post-laminated edge finishing is standard on every flat railing panel.
The introduction comes as builders have more options for incorporating custom railing designs into outdoor living projects.
