We are proud to announce the latest issue of Deck Specialist magazine. Our flagship article is about how many contractors are tapping into the increasing potential of building treehouses that feature all the amenities of a regular home. We spoke with some of the top industry experts in this space, including Pete Nelson, a pioneer of the modern treehouse and the star of Animal Planet’s television show Treehouse Masters. We also spoke with Michael Garnier, another pioneer of treehouse building, who appeared on DIY Network’s The Treehouse Guys.

In this issue, we highlighted some interesting builders and their projects. Notably were Mitchell Construction’s NADRA 2nd Place winner 2020 deck that featured a unique inlay inspired by the homeowner’s love of the Chicago Cubs. Another inlay project that we featured in the issue was built by Nick Dober, owner of Elite Decks in Omaha, NE. His love of artistry mixed with the customer’s love of the Iowa State’s mascot, Cy the Cardinal, made for a creative project. Our professional Q&A showcased twin brothers Ben and Andrew Schoonover who jointly serve the Farmington, MN and Twin Cities metro areas.

We also heard from some industry experts including Gordon South, who is known on social media for his Wood Bully videos that start with “Pay Attention, Brian.” He shared his top five tips for creating a six-figure deck. Jason Alloway, owner of New Castle Building Group, spoke with us about his recent purchase of Trex steel framing product, which he re-released under the name New Castle Steel.
