When Ashley Campbell, owner of Decked Out Construction & Outdoor Living, Gilmer, TX., decided to build some 16×20 steel displays at his new 10,000-sq. ft. Extreme Backyard and Beyond retail store at 208 Alexander in Mount Pleasant, TX., he wanted his colleagues on Facebook to be there. The industry heard about it, and that’s how the first Steel Sharpens Steel Live 2022 event, scheduled for July 27-29, was born.

The event will begin Monday, June 27, at 6 pm with a welcome dinner at Nardello’s sponsored by Fortress Building Products. On July 28, Fortress will start building one of the 16×20 steel frames next to New Castle Steel, who will build another. Meanwhile, builders along with treated lumber UFP and Deckorators will be constructing a third 16×20 inside the ProWood store. Tuesday evening will feature a Deckorators-sponsored dinner at Racks BBQ in Pittsburg, TX., along with guest appearance by the Hayden McBride Band. Building will conclude Wednesday at 5 pm followed by a dinner from CAMO fasteners at 6 pm at the Flying Cow restaurant in Pittsburg.

Industry leaders, including Fortress, New Castle Steel, Deckorators, CAMO, NADRA, Shane Chapman and Wade Laurent from The Ultimate Deck Podcast, “The Godfather of Steel” Scott Kelly, and Wood Bully’s Gordon South, will be in attendance.

“Since the beginning of time God told us to arm ourselves with steel,” said Ashley Campbell. “Now I ask you to join us as we show you the reasons to arm your deck with steel framing.”

For those interested in attending, more information can be found on the Extreme Backyard & Beyond Facebook page.
