PolyScape by Bedford recently announced its engineered plastic lumber Ultra Grade has received a DrJ Listing and Technical Evaluation Report (TER 2506-104). The report provides independently evaluated structural design information for engineers, contractors, OEMs, architects, and building officials.
TER 2506-104 recognizes PolyScape Ultra Grade as a structural-grade, fiberglass-reinforced plastic lumber product for applications including decks, boardwalks, docks, platforms, beams, joists, posts, and columns. It includes approved design values, allowable spans, post capacities, fastener performance data, and installation requirements.
Unlike traditional plastic lumber products intended primarily for non-structural applications, Ultra Grade incorporates fiberglass reinforcement throughout the profile. Fiberglass accounts for at least 15% of the product’s total weight, providing the structural performance needed for demanding outdoor applications.
“The release of TER 2506-104 marks an important milestone for PolyScape and the customers who rely on durable, low-maintenance structural materials,” said Bedford President Jay Milbrandt. “Engineers and contractors now have access to recognized design data and evaluation documentation that can help streamline project planning and approval.”
The evaluation report can be submitted to building officials when product evaluation documentation is required. Because DrJ is an ANAB-accredited certification body, the report is recognized in jurisdictions that accept ANAB-accredited evaluations and in countries participating in the IAF Multilateral Recognition Arrangement.
PolyScape Ultra Grade is engineered for outdoor environments where moisture, rot, corrosion, and ongoing maintenance can create long-term challenges. The product is available in multiple structural profiles and can be used in accordance with the requirements outlined in TER 2506-104.
