If you’ve completed a standout project in 2026, now is the time to share it. The window is closing for deck builders to showcase their best work in the third annual Deck Building 101 Project Contest, with entries being accepted through Monday, July 27.
Projects will be judged on craftsmanship, creativity, innovation, difficulty, attention to detail, and overall execution.
For the first time, one of Deck Building 101 Group’s experts and NADRA Award-winning deck builder and designer, David Settlemyer of Under the Sun Concepts, will be new to the judging panel, specifically to judge the Best Design category, which was added to the contest this year. Deck Specialist editors will return for the third consecutive year to help judge as well.
Builders can submit projects in the following categories:
- 1st Overall
- 2nd Overall
- 3rd Overall
- Tech
- Lighting
- Curved Deck
- Stairs
- Inside Out
- Solo Builder
- NEW! Best Design
- NEW! DIY Project
To enter, participants simply post their completed project in the contest thread within the Deck Building 101 Facebook group. Entries should include 5–10 photos, the builder or company name, city and state (or country), category, and a brief project description. Videos are also welcome.
For professional deck builders who are not already members, the Deck Building 101 Facebook group has become one of the industry’s most active online communities. The private group provides a place to exchange ideas, ask technical questions, share completed projects, and learn from builders across North America and beyond. The annual contest is just one of many ways members connect with and inspire one another throughout the year.
Entries close July 27. If you’re not already part of the community, request access to the private Deck Building 101 Facebook group today, connect with fellow deck builders, and submit your best project before the deadline.
