ProWood Pressure Treated Lumber: The Right Lumber for the Job

ProWood Pressure-Treated Lumber

ProWood pressure-treated lumber is infused with preservatives that penetrate deep into the wood fibers, forming a powerful barrier against rot, decay, and termites. Whether you’re framing a substructure, setting posts, or installing ledger boards, our lumber is engineered to stand up to moisture, pests, and the elements.

Not All Treated Lumber Is Created Equal

Every job is different—and so is the level of preservative protection required. The American Wood Protection Association (AWPA) specifies the preservative level required for different use categories. ProWood offers treated lumber across all AWPA Use Categories to ensure you can build with the right lumber for the job.

Ground Contact (UC4A)

Our most commonly used and versatile treatment. Ideal for joists, beams, posts, stringers, and anything touching or within six inches of the ground. Built to handle frequent moisture and tough conditions.

Above Ground (UC3B)

Best for parts of the build that are easily maintained and sit at least six inches off the ground, like deck boards, railings, and balusters. Not recommended for structural framing or low-clearance applications.

Critical Structure (UC4B)

Designed for demanding environments like permanent structural components, marine environments, or saltwater splash zones. This treatment offers the highest level of protection, especially where lumber replacement is difficult or impossible.

Reading a Lumber Tag

Every ProWood board comes clearly tagged with its AWPA Use Category—critical information for ensuring your material matches the demands of the project. Choosing the wrong type can void the warranty or, worse, lead to premature board failure.

Train your crew to check end tags as lumber is delivered or before installation begins. This quick step can prevent expensive headaches later.

Treated Lumber for Deck Substructure

Homeowners may focus on decking color or railing style—but you know the real strength of a deck lives in the substructure. From joists to beams to posts, ProWood pressure-treated lumber is built to handle the weight of weather, traffic, and time.

We’re proud to be the trusted partner of contractors who don’t cut corners—those who sweat the details, understand the craft, and build with long-term performance in mind.
