Vinyl Sustainability Council Presents Design Award to AZEK

The Vinyl Sustainability Council presented its inaugural 2021 Design for Reuse Award at its annual meeting to The AZEK Company for its TimberTech AZEK Landmark CollectionTM decking.

“TimberTech AZEK’s new Landmark Collection decking was designed with recycling at end of life in mind,” said Jay Thomas, Executive Director of the Vinyl Sustainability Council. “This is a perfect example of design for reuse that is necessary to increase the recycling rate of vinyl building products.”

With a reclaimed wood aesthetic, the Landmark Collection launched in February 2021 and is made entirely from synthetic material, approximately 50% of which is recycled PVC. Through research and development and controlled product chemistry, the product was formulated specifically to ensure post-use recyclability.

“We are proud to accept this award from the VSC and in alignment with our core value better today than yesterday, we’re going to continue our work to create innovative, beautiful and high-performance outdoor living products that help build a more sustainable future,” said Amanda Cimaglia, AZEK’s Vice President of ESG. “We lean into innovation to create products that people love, while diverting hundreds of millions of pounds of waste and scrap from landfills each year.”
