Millboard Decking Featured in “Ding” Darling Project

The “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society (DDWS) will be using Millboard decking in its design of a new multi-functional project welcoming visitors to the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge on a subtropical barrier island in Sanibel, FL.

The decking, which is made from recycled materials to simulate wood, has been added to a 350-sq. ft. area that will contain three separate spaces for small-group gatherings and places for visitors to rest on their own when they explore the refuge.

The decking is part of a larger $1 million-plus project of the DDWS refuge, including a new 4,670-sq. ft. pavilion called The Roost (alluding to the pavilion’s welcoming appeal) that will be adjacent to the entrance ramp of the “Ding” Darling Visitor & Education Center. DDWS plans to break ground on the pavilion by late summer 2022.
